Christian Schools featured prominently in the presentations of both the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Make it Count political leaders forum organised by the Australian Christian Lobby this week.

Make It Count is organised by the Australian Christian Lobby and webcast to churches throughout Australia. The PM and Opposition Leader are invited to directly address the concerns of the churches.

CSA's Stephen O'Doherty and Mark Spencer attended the event at Old Parliament House, with church and Christian community leaders from around the country.

Both Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott gave examples of their support for Christian schools as examples of their continuing desire to work with the Christian churches.

The Prime Minister cited the BER as evidence of the ALP Government’s support. He pointed out that funding under the programme had allocated to all sectors alike.

The Leader of the Opposition pointed out that the previous Coalition Government’s abolition of the former New Schools Policy made possible the strong growth of religious schools during the past decade.
