Jeanette was appointed as CSA's EO in Victoria and Tasmania in 2009, after a long career as an educator and leader in Christian schools.
Background
Jeanette has been involved in education for over 40 years and in Christian schools for 22 years. Commencing her teaching in Heywood in Western Victoria, she also taught at Immanuel College (Lutheran) in Adelaide. Serving as a missionary in Indonesia with CMS for 10 years with her husband, Jeanette had many and varied opportunities to teach – home schooling her children, Theological English at the seminary, Old Testament Survey (in Indonesian), various subjects at the International School, literacy, community development and Bible teaching.
On her return to Australia, Jeanette taught at Maranatha Christian School in Melbourne and enjoyed teaching Indonesian, Personal Development and Psychology there for 13 years and taking on Year Level roles at various levels.
In 1999 she became Deputy Principal at Flinders Christian Community College, (Tyabb), which was then a single campus, secondary school. She retired at the end of 2008, by which time she was Head of the P-12 Tyabb Campus with 830 students.
She has been involved in CSA since its inception and served on many committees in Victoria. Jeanette has contributed as an administrator and speaker and has supported the growth of the various aspects of CSA over the years.
Education
Jeanette graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education. She completed a three year residential course at Adelaide Bible Institute, gaining a Merit Diploma and a post graduate Bachelor of Divinity from the Melbourne College of Divinity. Her preparation for missionary work included training at CMS Federal Training College and language study.
In recent years she returned to study with N.I.C.E. and graduated with her Master of Education in 2004 with a thesis on The significance of religious factors in the development of resilience in secondary students in Christian schools.
Personal
Jeanette is married to Peter, an Anglican clergyman until recently, now an artist and human rights activist for West Papua They have three married children and seven precious grandchildren. Jeanette has been involved in church music ministry, preaching and worship leading, is committed to sustainable gardening and would like to find more time to write.
