Students from Queensland’s Hillcrest Christian College raised about $700 for World Vision by attempting to make a Guinness World Record attempt the most people planking in one place.

Ben Thompson, the College’s chaplain organised the event, co-ordinated 541 students to lie face down on their school oval with their arms by their sides, head to toe in circles for almost half an hour in a "safe plank" position. In order to raise the funds, each student involved donated a gold coin.

Video footage and photographic evidence has been sent the UK with their application. The school is expecting to have verification in the next four to six weeks.

According to a Guinness World Records spokeswoman no record has previously been set for the most plankers in one place, but the minimum number of people planking had to be 250 to set a new record.

In order to raise the funds, each student donated a gold coin.
