At Macqaurie University Year 10 students from Northern Beaches Christian School will face off with other Sydney schools in the EnergyAustralia Science and Engineering Challenge.

The challenge is a fun way for students to understand the principles of science, engineering and technology. The students tackle a wide range of projects from building model bridges and a Mars buggy to designing a power network and an eco-friendly home.

The aim of the event is to inspire young people to consider a career in the sciences, engineering and other technology-related areas. The challenge explores the creative side of science and engineering in a fun and challenging atmosphere.

The initiative is supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science and Research, and is presented by the University of Newcastle in co-operation with Macquarie University, Rotary and EnergyAustralia.

The Science and Engineering Challenge will take place in the E7B Courtyard at Macquarie University, Balaclava Road, North Ryde between 9.30am and 2.30 pm from 20 to 22 of July.

If the students are successful they will then progress to the next phase of the competition, the Super Challenge which is being held in August. The Science and Engineering Challenge National Final takes place in October.
