Two Oxford Falls Grammar students are through to the national finals for the United Nations Youth Association's Evatt Trophy in debating.

Year 11 students, Jesse Carey and Natasha Rubie, competed in the state finals at Parliament House in June. The competition is the largest schools debating competition in Australia with more than 500 students taking on the roles of UN members in a mock United Nationas Security Council scenario.

The students undertook exhaustive research in order to debate and pass resolutions in their mock council. They talked about international law issues including piracy, peace talks and rights of privacy.

The national finals will take place in Hobart later in the year.
