Introducing an exciting mission event called ‘Nicodemus’ that is designed to communicate the Gospel to several thousand people in the lead up to Easter 2012. This initiative has the support and imprimatur of the Anglican Bishop of North Sydney, Glenn Davies.
‘Nicodemus’ is an Australian musical, produced and co-written by Matthew Adams, which provides an exceptional opportunity for the local church community and schools to invite friends and family to a Gospel event that is not only entertaining and immensely enjoyable, but which also gives the opportunity for Kingdom related discussion afterwards. It is new, it is Australian, and it will have a positive effect on those who come to see it.
After an extraordinarily successful World Premier season in Griffith, this exciting musical event is now being produced by Matthew Adams in Sydney and will be presented at seven performances in the Main Hall at Covenant Christian School from Wednesday March 21, 2012 to Saturday March 31, 2012, the lead up to Easter. Matthew’s vision for the show is for Christians to bring along their non-Christian friends and family so that they may have the Gospel presented to them in an entertaining and non-threatening way. “The show is tremendous fun, very entertaining, energetic and everyone who comes will have a great time. On top of that they will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ – it doesn’t get any better than that!” Matthew says.
The story revolves around the inner turmoil that besets Nicodemus, the Chief Teacher of Israel, when he is confronted with the teachings and miracles of Jesus. Torn between a life of luxury, privilege and entitlement on the one hand and the devastating loss of everything he has worked for and achieved on the other, including his title, family and friends, ‘Nicodemus’ contains all the elements of public and private betrayal, intrigue, personal anguish and political expediency, intermingled with eye-popping, big sounding and entertaining musical and dance numbers. It addresses issues that are very relevant to people today as Nicodemus takes them on an extraordinary journey.
The musical contains the proverbial ‘cast of thousands’ from many churches and denominations in Sydney, in both the cast and the orchestra.
