Set on 20 acres of natural bushland behind Burleigh Heads with a commitment and focus on community. Hillcrest Christian College, a medium sized school, provides a warm, caring and safe environment for children to grow and develop; educating children academically, socially and spiritually. Hillcrest is, and will continue to be, a community which teaches and reinforces strong Christian values. Individuals are accepted and loved, and instilled with a Christian framework of solid principles that will equip them for the rest of their life. Children are encouraged to have an active faith and are invited to be part of community service programs, chapel service and mission trips.

As students grow into maturity, through the College and into their secondary years, the curriculum is designed to challenge them to accept responsibility to God and others, and to pursue excellence in all their endeavours.

Within the broad based curriculum, there is an increasing emphasis placed not only in the basic skills of literacy and numeracy, but also, the development of the gift and joy of learning. The progress of all or our students is mapped through internal and external skills testing. To achieve this, we have a variety of programs directed to identify and meet the individual gifts of students, both within the classroom and extra to the classroom.

The Primary School has two main streams, with the an additional 3/4, 5/6 and Year 7 gifted and talented class. Hillcrest is one of a few schools in Queensland who offer a full time Gifted and Talented curriculum, with teachers specifically trained in this type of learning.

In the Secondary School, class numbers in some elective subjects are limited to 24 students, while others may be even smaller. This allows for increased teacher assistance and input. Students can develop meaningful relationships with teachers who are more like mentors. Fewer numbers offer students more opportunities to take on leadership positions, be involved with sporting teams and play a larger role in the school.

The overall smaller school size, Christian values and genuine care has developed a relational base from which teachers and students interact and strive toward success. Hillcrest students are nurtured to be all they can be. The College seeks to see our students improve and excel in their endeavours. Hillcrest Christian College is a ministry of Reedy Creek Baptist Church on the Gold Coast.
