The name 'Cedar College' is derived from Psalm 92v12 which outlines the growth of a righteous person - pictured as a cedar tree - growing to become strong and vital, and leading a fruit-bearing life. This aspiration is reflected in our school motto "Growing in Wisdom". A ministry of Oakden Baptist Church, Cedar Collge was established in 1997 to glorify God by training children to live, serve and work effectively in God's world, through a Christ-centred and caring environment. This is achieved by encouraging a relationship with God; developing Christian attitudes and behaviours; and imparting the necessary knowledge and skills for today's world. Cedar College has recently embarked on an extensive building programme to meet the needs of its growing population. New facilities include a $3M 2-court Gymnasium, asphalt sports surface, classroom blocks, as well as modern Tech Studies, Home Ecomomics and Art centres. Cedar College comprises of three departments - Primary (R-6), Middle School (7-9) and Senior School (10-12). These departments allow students to develop academically and socially at an appropriate level, while providing a complete education from Reception through to Year 12. A broad-based curriculum provides opportunity for students to pursue their aspirations and long-term goals, developing their God-given potential. With now over 500 students, Cedar College prides itself on maintaining a 'family' environment within a professional approach to education. We praise God for His gracious provision to meet the needs of the College as we endeavour to impact the lives of our students, families and the community around us. |
