He has been a teacher, coach, high school principal and superintendent. Dr. Schultz was a Pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church and Headmaster of Sherwood Christian Academy. Financial Management in Christian Schools – we can do better!
Christian schools in Australia are in a very blessed position due to Australia's legislative environment and access to government funding. Christian schools have a God-given obligation to excel and be leaders in financial management (stewardship) and integrity. And yet, some of our schools get themselves into financial difficulty, either through poor choices or lack of expertise. As Christian schools, we have an opportunity to work together for the Kingdom and establish sound practices in financial management and provide resources for schools to use. A shared understanding of financial management by business managers, principals and boards, with each playing their role, is crucial to good practice.
In a keynote session, Andrew Davies Director of Corporate Services for Tyndale Christian School in Salisbury East, Strathalbyn and Murray Bridge in South Australia, will give an overview of a project he is leading to develop a voluntary, self-help financial management framework (incorporating benchmarking, planning/budgeting, good reporting practices and accounting policy guidelines) which will provide business managers, principals and boards with a shared understanding of financial management, supported by guidelines, tools and resources to assess and improve the financial management of their schools. This keynote will be further explored in an accompanying workshop in the afternoon.
Launching Resources for Schools
The Retreat will also see four major launches. These new initiatives of CSA will help all schools and colleges create space and opportunities for those who are yet to come, both staff and students.
The first resource to be launched will be a Christian Education Program which has been developed in conjunction with Trinity Theological College. This resource can be used by schools wishing to do so to supplement your existing programs and activities.
The second will be a launch of God's Big Story Version 2. In addition to a rewrite, this new resource will contain a whole section on Biblical worldview and links to valuable resources. CSA has partnered with Christian Heritage College to see this resource developed.
Third, CSA has partnered with Adepto to develop a Christian Educators Link which will see the placement of pre-service teachers, graduates, teachers and staff effectively in our schools. CSA will have exclusive access to this resource in Australia and it is a world first in this technology space.
Finally at the Retreat, CSA will launch our new website. This will include a clearing house function which will provide a single location for all our IP, resources, as well as links to websites and partner agencies.
The Retreat will also be running a number of workshops based on Governance, Financial Health, Curriculum, Emerging Leaders and Tertiary links. View the list of workshop presenters here.

While we have been building schools, God has also been completing a work in us. We are being prepared for a new season, a season of fruitfulness and multiplication. Renewal and multiplication is in God's fabric since creation. It is not just a command but a promise.
It is our hope that the seeds planted in faith by today's generation determine the legacy inherited by the next.
