Submission Lodged to NSW "Equality" Bill Review Committee

13 April 2024

As indicated in our earlier Briefing, the Equality Legislation Amendment (LGBTIQA+) Bill 2023 was referred to the Legislative Assembly Committee on Community Services for consideration and report.  More information on the Bill and its implications can be found on the campaign page established by Freedom for Faith and in conjunction with a range of other groups.

CSA has lodged a joint submission with our colleagues at the Australian Association of Christian Schools at the invitation of the Committee.  The submission:

  • rejected the proposed amendments to Anti-Discrimination Act 1977,
  • raised concerns about the proposed amendments to Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995,
  • proposed that the Committee recommend the NSW Parliament conduct an inquiry into gender affirmative treatments in children, and
  • asked the Committee to recommend that the Bill as a whole be rejected by Parliament.

We have also been invited to provide further evidence at a Committee hearing on 1 May.

A copy of the submission can be downloaded from the link below.
