Effective Teaching and Learning Series 1

We are happy to be offering a 10 week internationally-recognised teacher training series together with New Hope International (NHI).

Teacher quality is key to providing excellence in Christian education. Core to New Hope International’s ministry is the development and provision of excellent Christian teacher professional learning, primarily through the Effective Teaching and Learning Series (ETLS). ETLS is Bible-based training that builds teachers’ capacity to teach from a Christian worldview, building a Christian shalom community, and taking seriously Christ’s mandate to ‘make disciples’.

Event Information

This is New Hope International’s (NHI) 10 week internationally-recognised teacher training series. It has transformed Christian teachers and schools in Australia and overseas over the last 19 years. You can read more about this on the NHI website. This is a rare opportunity to be trained online and be ready to take up opportunities to train teachers in developing countries as the need arises. The first training session is on the 8th July. The cost of this online training series is $100, plus GST.

Speakers

Speaker: Sue Skuthorpe, Global Connect Ambassador

Sue has been involved in education since 1971 serving as a classroom teacher, as well as in leadership positions in three Christian schools. Sue served for thirteen years as the Principal of Charlton Christian College, retiring from this role in 2016. Since then, Sue was CEO of New Hope International (NHI) until December 2022, travelling internationally to train teachers in developing countries.

Event Host: Kathryn Button, Director of Global Connect

Kathryn has extensive experience in leadership in Christian and government schools, most recently as the Senior School Principal at Tyndale Christian School in South Australia. She is passionate about global mission and service, and is keen to expand the global vision of schools. She is also keen to encourage more women to pursue leadership roles in Christian schools and to explore ways to enable them to flourish in these roles.

Qualify for CPD Hours

This event attracts 20 CPD hours according to the following AITSL professional teacher and leadership standards:

» 6.2 - Engage in professional learning and improve practice
» 6.3 - Engage with colleagues and improve leadership practice
» 7.4 - Engage with professional leadership networks and broader communities
