Leading with Wisdom is the theme for this year's CSA National Leadership Conference, August 20-22 in the Barossa Valley. Mark the dates now because registration opens next week.
Part retreat, part conference, the annual Leadership Conference is a time for refreshment, learning, and great fellowship with colleagues from across Australia and beyond. This year's leadership conference is open to all in Christian Schools, regardless of affiliation.
Leading with Wisdom – Mark Strom
Respected author, teacher, coach and mentor Dr Mark Strom is our main speaker.
For more than 25 years Mark has been making a significant contribution to leaders and emerging leaders internationally. He is an engaging and thought provoking speaker, who loves to challenge and inspire.
A talented story teller, he will encourage leaders to find within their own story wisdom, brilliance and strength to be enriched in their leadership, or leadership potential. Sessions will include:
Leading with Wisdom
Leadership needs wisdom. In fact, we would get further talking less about leadership and more about wisdom. But what is wisdom? Following the lead not only of the biblical wisdom traditions, but traditions spanning the globe over millennia, Mark will outline four patterns of human experience leaders need to understand, and four arts by which we may lead with wisdom.
Renew with Brilliance
Everyone has brilliance: not a certain IQ, but the ability to shine. This is a corollary of being made in the image and likeness of God. Furthermore, there is a brilliance we all share, and there is brilliance that is unique to each person. The latter is the focus in this session. What is this brilliance? What does it mean to create room for brilliance and what impact can this have on a school? And how do we help people discover and embrace their own brilliance?
Know Your Heritage
After helping leaders explore these themes in their own lives, Mark will help them to know their heritage: and place these insights for leading within the bigger picture of our heritage in the counter-cultural story and message of Jesus.
Media, communication and Critical Incident skills
Effective media and communication skills, are essential skills for school leaders. Our conference will include a media training intensive, led by skilled and professional communicators.
Tracey Cain, Australian Public Afffairs.
Tracey has more than 25 years of Australian and international media/communications experience in a variety of journalist, corporate & political advisory roles, including long standing communications and issues management support for Christian and other Independent Schools.
Stephen O'Doherty, CSA
Prior to joining CSA, Stephen had careers in broadcast journalism, communication and politics. He has extensive experience on both sides of the microphone. He coaches media skills and has assisted many Principals in the management of highly sensitive media issues.
Using typical scenarios, hypotheticals and mock interviews, Tracey and Stephen will provide practical insights and training for leaders and emerging leaders.
