Appointment | Executive Officer, Queensland – Research and Tertiary

It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of CSA’s newest Executive Officer, Dr Darren Iselin. Darren has accepted the position of Executive Officer, Queensland – Research and Tertiary. Darren will serve CSA’s schools in Queensland and ensure they are afforded personalised support and are provided with the resources and services they need to thrive. In addition to his role with CSA schools, Darren will also spend two days per week working upon CSA’s strategic tertiary partnerships across the nation and supporting CSA’s range of exciting new research efforts.

Darren will officially commence with CSA in January 2018; however, he will spend one week in 2017 meeting with members and establishing a calendar of events and programs for Queensland schools for 2018.

Darren has spent the last three-and-a-half years as President of Christian Heritage College a fully accredited, multidisciplinary tertiary provider of approx. 850 students in Queensland. Prior to this appointment, he was Headmaster of Heights College, a thriving Christian school of 820 students in Rockhampton, Queensland where he oversaw a rapid growth phase within the life of College. Darren worked at The University of Queensland as a Course Coordinator for 6 years. Darren has also worked internationally as a Vice- Principal of a multi campus International School in Hong Kong.

Darren has completed extensive formal study including: Bachelor of Teaching, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy. Darren’s PhD was titled: How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times and was completed in 2011. Darren’s thesis was awarded the Grassie-Basset prize in Educational Administration from The University of Queensland and the Research in Educational Leadership Management Award from the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL). Darren is also a member of the Australian College of Educators and Institute of Company Directors.

I am a highly relational and self-motivated person who is inspired by the compelling vision of Christian Education and the capacity for human flourishing that such education nurtures within culture and society.

Darren has extensive networks in Christian schooling and the Tertiary sector. He has been a central figure at all levels of Christian Education in Australia for the past two decades. Darren is passionate about Christian Education and knows how to bring out the best in leaders, staff and boards.

Darren is an excellent leader, presenter, writer and thinker and he will use his immense skills to support the work of CSA, its schools and tertiary partners. I am sure you will make Darren most welcome as he joins the CSA team.
