Guest speaker: Allen Dickson, Belgrave Heights Christian School The Partnership Project: Growing by Giving’

So much happens in the day-to-day life of a Christian School that we don’t often get the opportunity to lift our eyes and see the broader Christian School context; both where we can learn and where we can help grow the movement. Over the last few years Belgrave Heights Christian School has run ‘The Partnership Project’ – an open-handed and coordinated resourcing for developing Christian Schools. With a motto of ‘Grow By Giving’, it involves harnessing the strengths of the BHCS people, procedures and programs. The resultant assistance – Robotics visits, curriculum help, PR assistance, finance and administration consults, to name a few – has not only helped grow the schools involved, but it has also had incredible flow back into BHCS. The joyous paradox is that open hands can both give and receive.

About Allen: Allen Dickson is an educator & speaker with a passion for ensuring learning is innovative, practical and enjoyable. For over 20 years he has combined classroom teaching with appointments in various extra-curricular organisations where he uses a diverse range of unique skills to instil confidence in young people, in extending and challenging gifted learners, and in initiating change in classroom practice. Heading up ‘The Partnership Project’ for Belgrave Heights Christian School, Allen regularly visits smaller independent schools to give their coding and robotics program a ‘kick start’ or ‘reboot’. With a focus on engagement and ‘hands on’ resourcing, Allen runs his own educational consultancy – RethinkPD – where he speaks on a range of specialist issues both in schools and at conferences around the country.
