YOUR GUEST SPEAKERS

BEK BEZANT
TEACHER | ALTA-1 COLLEGE

Bek Bezant is a CaRE school educator and has a passion for working with the disengaged and at-risk cohort. Throughout her seven years of teaching, she has worked in three highschools, two CaRE schools and a private mainstream Christian highschool. Most of the students Bek has worked with come from difficult or dysfunctional backgrounds and have had disrupted education. She has developed skills to re-engage disengaged and school-avoiding young people. Bek has found through building healthy rapport with each student individually, and establishing an environment where students felt safe, they began to open up and share some of their emotional difficulties. It was after these adversities were properly addressed, that students began to re-engage in education. Bek created and implemented whole-school Health, Physical Education and Outdoor Education curriculum at her first CaRE school in 2015, and in 2018 was appointed Head of Behaviour Management. Bek deeply empathises with the needs of disengaged youth. As well as offering them the Good News that Jesus gives of love, acceptance, identity and purpose, Bek loves seeing students set up for success through meeting the social, emotional and educational needs of students.
