National Flame Network Update | June 2020

What a fabulous online National Flame Network event we enjoyed on Wednesday. Our 3 panellists were outstanding as together we explored a Christian and biblical perspective on women in leadership. Special thanks to each of our guests for their valuable and expert contribution to this complex and often overheated issue. The ‘Chat’ facility recorded some excellent comments and questions.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this awesome event.  We extended the invitation to male leaders and board members and it was exciting to see some men join the online network. We appreciate and need the support of men who are willing to intentionally champion women in leadership. To quote Julia Baird from ABC’s, The Drum, “When women are heard change happens”. Our society and our schools need to hear and respect women’s voices around Board tables and executive management tables to effect change.

We will be very blessed to have Katelyn Beaty as our keynote speaker at our next event, which promises to be amazing!  Katelyn is the author of A Woman’s Place.  A fabulous read!

Until recently, Katelyn was managing editor of Christianity Today – a highly respected Christian publication. She has written for The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and The New York Times on topics such as politics, gender, and theology, and has commented on faith and culture for CNN, ABC, NPR, Associated Press and Religion News Service. She was interviewed by Meredith Lake on our ABC Soul Search program, The Spiritual Side of Work.

Monday, 10 August | 11:00am to 12noon AEST. Learn more

I encourage you to invite male principals, business managers, board members and other leaders to join with us at this event to intentionally ‘pull’ women through into senior leadership.

A Great Read for Aspiring Female Leaders

Dr Graham Joseph Hill, Principal of Stirling Theological College, recently released his latest publication, Holding Up Half the Sky, which presents a biblical case for women leading and teaching in the church. Graham has not shied away from tackling this complex subject. He has an inclusive and inspiring approach, encouraging readers to seek light and truth in the midst of conflict.

“As Christians we need ‘women at the table’ in our churches and organisations. Otherwise, we lose so much… We can’t build strong, deep, diverse, Spirit-led communities without women at the table”  ~  Dr Graham Joseph Hill
