Queensland State Election 2017

The Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has announced a State Election for Saturday 25 November 2017.

This will be the first Queensland election conducted under the full preferential voting system rather than the previous optional preferential system – with the number of informal votes expected to rise accordingly as a result of this change.

Enrolling to vote and updating details is managed through the Australian Electoral Commission, see here, with the electoral rolls closing at 5:00 PM this coming Friday, 3 November 2017.  As electoral boundaries were changed in 2016 schools and parents may want to check their current electorate at the ECQ website or in the listing below.

CSA has written to the Education Minister and Shadow Education Minister seeking responses to a range of questions in relation to:

  • Ensuring freedom of choice and expression
  • Development of new schools
  • Special Assistance Schools
  • Fair and certain recurrent State funding

Copies of these letter are attached below for the information of members.  We will be providing further updates over the course of the campaign and once responses are received.
