After visiting the Acting Governor earlier today the Queensland Premier, Campbell Newman has announced that writs had been issued for a State election to be held on Saturday 31 January.
Some key issues for Christian schools in Queensland include the need for a resolution and certainty in relation to funding for Students with Disabilities, increased Capital funding, and the ongoing need for a reduction in red tape for the establishment of new schools.
Any State Government must also recognise the shift in student enrolments from high fee to low fee independent schools, the demand from parents with no previous church affiliation for a faith based education and the return on investment that the government receives for each dollar spent in low fee Christian schools.
CSA will be seeking commitments from the major parties around issues of importance to Christian schools in the run up to the election.
