Review to Achieve Educational Excellence – call for submissions

The Panel for the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools chaired by Mr David Gonski AC, has been commissioned to examine evidence and make recommendations on how school funding should be used to improve school performance and student outcomes.

The final report and recommendations will be provided to Government by March 2018.

The public submission process opened today and submissions are welcome from all interested parties. The Panel have indicated that the submission process is the primary form of consultation for the Review.  Submissions will close at 5 pm AEDST on 13 October 2017.

Update: The public submissions process has been extended. Submissions can be made via the online submission form until 5:00 pm AEDST Thursday 2 November 2017.

An issues paper has been prepared and contains questions to guide responses around the five themes outlined as priorities: –

  • What students learn and how they learn
  • Teachers and school leadership
  • Parent and community engagement
  • Defining and measuring success in education
  • Identifying, sharing and driving good practice and continuous improvement

The Issues Paper also indicates that the Review will also consider ‘how system level enablers such as standards, qualifications and accreditation, regulation and registration, quality assurance measures and transparency and accountability provisions can help drive educational success’.
